Inspiring leadership

Aug 6, 2012

In. 2012 London hosted the Olympics. I don’t know about you but I was inspired and daunted at the same time.

Here is what I took from it :

1. Astounding 10,ooo meters champion Mo Farah says he has to run 120 miles a week in training.
Lesson. There is no easy success, you have to put in the graft.
2. Legend Michael Phelps is beaten in the 200m Butterfly but is so generous to Chad le Clos despite his disappointment.
Lesson. You don’t have to win every battle or treat the competition as enemies.
3. Jessica Ennis Lesson. It’s possible to be both very successful and humble.

In a world where sometimes people seem to have the belief that winning at any cost or method is acceptable and that short cuts and cheating are justified, it’s clear we need to be leaders who are prepared to give others respect, be humble and put the hard work in to succeed.

It’s not going to be easy but I’m inspired. Are you?
